Aftonbladet/KULTUR is a monthly magazine for debate, literature, art, film, music, comics and - Cyberspace.

Its an independent, radical monthly paper, edited by Håkan Jaensson and Anders Paulrud, who are also responsible for Aftonbladets coverage of the cultural scene. Mark Comerford and Roland Stanbridge of The Department of Journalism, Media and Communication (JMK) at Stockholm University and Bo Hedin, Aftonbladet, are responsible for the electronic edition.

Aftonbladet is Sweden's third largest paper with a daily circulationof ca 400 000 copies.

It is also one of the oldest papers in Sweden: it was founded by Lars Johan Hierta in 1830. Hierta stood up for the freedom of speech against stubborn authorities - a tradition todays Aftonbladet proudly carries on.

Aftonbladet, 164 years old, is now the first Swedish daily paper to try the new means of communication that Internet offers.

Aftonbladet/KULTUR is a pilot project in this brave new world - and we celebrate that, in this first issue, with several articles about Internet, Cyberspace etc.
